French Students Get a Taste of Life at Overlake

Warm weather and warm hearts welcome fifteen French exchange students who are spending a week and a half at Overlake.

They’re from Saint-Michel de Picpus School in Paris. Host families welcomed the students on Sunday when their flight arrived at SeaTac Airport.

Monday, the group spent the day attending classes along with their Overlake hosts. “The school is so big and beautiful,” says Johain L. “It is a very clean school and everyone seems so happy.”

The students come to school every morning to enjoy breakfast and head out on sightseeing trips.

On Tuesday they visited MOHAI and University of Washington. Wednesday, they toured the Museum of Flight, and Thursday was a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island. After a relaxing weekend with their host families, they’ll wrap up their visit with field trips to popular Seattle tourist destinations such as Pike Place Market and the Space Needle.

“The last time we hosted the French students, their entire visit was rainy and cold. This group is enjoying an incredible Washington fall,” says Upper School Head Gerald Buhaly.

The students return to France next Thursday, so make sure to give them an Overlake welcome if you see them on campus!
