Testing
Information on Admissions Testing
For Applicants 5th-8th:
We do require a standardized test for applicants for 5th-8th grades, but will accept any type of standardized test, including state tests such as MAP or SBA, or national tests such as ISEE or SSAT, taken within the last year. There is no advantage to submitting an SSAT/ISEE score versus any other zero-cost standardized test score.
If test scores cannot be sent to The Overlake School directly by the testing company or uploaded to Ravenna by the student's school, we will accept a PDF copy via email at admissions@overlake.org.
Overlake will only take ONE test score from an applicant. If you choose to take the SSAT/ISEE, we recommend only signing up for one test to ensure other families are able to find a local test center. If your student registers to test at Overlake and registers for more than one test date, we may cancel one of your registrations so that another family has the opportunity to sign up at our test site. In the case of a cancelled test registration, please note that registration refunds are administered by the Enrollment Management Association and that we cannot guarantee, nor are we responsible for, refunds.
For Applicants 9th-11th:
We require an SSAT or ISEE test score taken during the year of application for 9-11th grade. Only one test score will be included in materials sent to application readers, and we do not utilize a super-score system.

While the at-home testing options are usually available, we understand the added cost to take this version of the test is an added barrier to many applicant families. The Admissions Team would like to support families for whom the registration fee is a barrier, so please reach out to us at admissions@overlake.org for more information. For general questions regarding financial aid at Overlake, reach out directly to Min Yoo at myoo@overlake.org.
For the paper-based test: Applicants must take their standardized test ON or BEFORE January 10, 2026. For the computer-based or at-home test: Applicants must take their standardized test ON or BEFORE February 1, 2026.
