Overlake Alumni Survey Highlights: Spring 2017

  • 91.4% agree that Overlake prepared them well for college academically
  • 53.9% believe that Alumni involvement is critical to Overlake’s success
  • 96.9% rated academic quality good or excellent
  • 96% rated faculty as good or excellent
  • 190 respondents have returned to campus since graduating
  • Top 5 events Alums want: mentoring Overlake students/recent grads; career advice for current Overlake students; Alumni gatherings in cities outside Seattle; events on campus (sports, plays, concerts, lectures, etc.); and networking events.
  • Top 3 most important program to Alums are Financial Aid (62.4%), followed by Academic Programs and Facilities (56.7%), and Other Co-Curricular Programs (Experiential Education, Global Education, Project Week) (53.3%)
  • Most respondents stay in touch via Overlake Alum Facebook followed by email and the Overlake News weekly e-newsletter
  • Top 3 ways Alums want to hear about events/programs are via e-mail, followed by Facebook and Instagram (our Alum Instagram will go live in August)
  • Most Alums who said they don’t give said it was because they can’t afford to currently
  • 47 respondents said they want to be more involved with Overlake
  • Reunion program and Alumni events both ranked as good
  • Alums want more communications about reunions
  • Requests for reunions outside of Seattle and for reunions in Seattle around the holiday season
  • Requests for more help with organizing reunions by class year
  • Alums like news about Alums, Faculty, and Current Programs in their communications
  • There is confusion about how to update contact information
  • Some Alums don’t seem to be getting or reading Overlake communications (commenting on things Overlake already does, but they don’t seem to know about) – could be an issue with spam filters
  • Many comments on wanting to connect with teachers, current students and fellow classmates from their years
  • Would like casual gatherings/family-friendly events including some not at bars
  • Requests for specific events targeted for class years or eras (decades)
