Author Visit: Veera Hiranandani

Last Thursday on Zoom, Middle School students enjoyed an assembly with Veera Hiranandani, the author of The Night Diary (Kokila), which has received many awards including the 2019 Newbery Honor Award, the 2019 Walter Dean Myers Honor Award, and the 2018 Malka Penn Award for Human Rights in Children's Literature. Ms. Hiranandani talked to students about her writing process, how she came to write The Night Diary, and she answered lots of questions from students about writing. Many thanks to Ms. Hiranandani for joining us, and to Dyuti (6th grade) for doing the introduction and helping moderate the questions, along with host Ms. Vikstrom-Hoyt.
