MS Promotion Requirements
Seventh and eighth grade students must receive 6.5 credits per year (based on taking seven courses which earn .25 credits per course per quarter) to be promoted to the next year. A failing course will be determined by the grade received at the end of the quarter. A grade score of 100% through 60% will be considered a passing grade and will receive credit. If a student does not receive sufficient credit during the academic year he/she will be required to attend summer school at an accredited institution to make up the credit. If a student does not satisfactorily pass a summer school course the student will not be invited to attend Overlake the next year. Any course taken for “promotion” must be approved by the Middle School Head and the Department Head of the academic department in which the course was failed.
