The Hoot Literary Magazine 2023
The Hoot is the Middle School literary magazine. All year, teachers submit class work or students submit their own work, and students vote on those submissions, which I present to them with the writer's/artist's name removed. Submissions include poetry, artwork, stories, memoirs, essays, and more.
The Hoot is now published in two versions:
The booklet is designed for double-sided printing, landscape orientation, on regular 8.5x11 paper.
Inside you'll find 56 pages of wonderful, full-color artwork, lyrical poems, adventurous stories, and more--enjoy!
I have advised the Hoot for eighteen wonderful years, and have truly been amazed at the caliber of writing and artistry shown by Overlake students. My heartfelt thanks go to so many teachers who helped me collect submissions over the years, and so many students who helped select the included pieces each year. It has been a joy and a privilege. Thank you again for all the years of creativity!
