Wings of Fire Escape Room

Students using a blacklight, melting ice, and digging in mud

This week, we ran an escape room based on the wildly popular series of dragon books, Wings of Fire by Tui Sutherland. The escape room, designed by Erica Testani, a youth services librarian in Virginia, involved students digging in the mud in the Mud Kingdom, melting ice in the Ice Kingdom, and piecing a puzzle with an invisible message on it in the Rainforest Kingdom. All in all, they had to figure out how to open two number locks, two word locks, a key lock and a directional lock. It took some doing, but they finally escaped!

Thanks also go to Kent Renno for making up a lovely tub of mud for us. :-)
