Overlake's Writer's Symposium coming in March

writer's symposium

An annual literary tradition continues at Overlake as the Writer's Symposium comes to campus in March. This year, students in the Upper School will hear from author and artist M.K. Asante. Seniors will do advance preparation for his visit by reading Asante's Buck. Asante visits March 6 and will hold an evening session for families from 6:15-7:15pm in the Library.

Meanwhile, in the Middle School, students will get a visit from local young adult author Justina Chen this year. Chen is the author of Nothing But the Truth and a Few White Lies, which will be featured in 7th and 8th grade English classes. On March 11, Chen will present an assembly to the whole Middle School, as well as workshop with all 8th grade classes. Courtesy of Island Books, Chen’s books will be available to purchase after the assembly, using student accounts; please talk with your students about whether they may purchase books. Please contact Rebecca Moore with any questions (rmoore@overlake.org).
