Spring MS Bookclub: A Wrinkle In Time

Wrinkle in Time cover

This week, the Middle School Bookclub met for the last time this year. Our student-selected book was Madeleine L'Engle's classic science fiction work, A Wrinkle In Time. Ten students plus two faculty (Mrs. Hunt and myself) met to talk about the worlds in the book, time travel, what creates trust, who qualifies as courageous, and more. Our activity was drawing chalk nebulae, but the students were much more interested in my attempt to make Rice Krispie treat "brains," since the villain in the book is a giant brain. While the treats didn't look exactly like brains and were more of a Pepto-Bismol than "brain" color (thanks to an over-pour of food coloring), the fact that they tasted a lot better than brains (though that is conjecture) was a plus!

The Middle School Bookclub meets four times a year. Students vote on books to read, and the first five students to sign up receive a free copy of the book.
