Below are the nuts and bolts for the Upper School Dance, which is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1:

  • Date/Time: Saturday, February 1st, 8:00-10:00 pm. Students may not arrive after 8:30 pm.  Students who arrive after 8:30 pm will not be allowed to enter. The dance ends sharply at 10:00 pm, and all students should have advance plans for transportation home after the dance. SOCO will remain to clean up for about 15-20 minutes after the dance ends.
  • Admission: Admission is $10.00. Tickets are by student number/account. No cash is accepted at the door.
  • Theme: The dance theme is “Starry Night” and it is a semi-formal dance. Though some students opt to go with a date or a group of friends, students are welcome to come on their own. Anyone can ask anyone to the dance.
  • Guests: Each Overlake student is allowed to bring one guest from other area schools. These guests must fill out a dance guest form with parent and administrator signatures. The form can be found here. Guest forms need to be returned to Gerald Buhaly or Mindy McGrath by 3:10pm on Friday, January, 31st. Guests who do not have a form returned prior to the end of the school day on the day of the dance may not enter. All guests must be accompanied by their Overlake School hosts, who are responsible for their guests during the entirety of the evening event.
  • Dance Rules and Etiquette: Students are expected to behave in ways consistent with all Upper School Student Policies.
  • Chaperones: The dance will be chaperoned by a team of faculty members led by Mindy McGrath and US Head Gerald Buhaly.
