Changemakers find their path by satisfying their curiosity.
At Overlake, we measure student success by far more than academic grades and test scores. It's about asking critical questions, fulfilling diverse interests, and growing into thoughtful citizens who make a profound difference. Our Middle and Upper School programs merge academic stimulation with creative exploration, preparing students for lives of purpose and impact.
Arts; Humanities; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; World Languages. Our curriculum spans the globe.
Our curriculum includes US Government, Engineering & Design Analysis, Musical Theater, Linear Algebra, Literature & the Law, Forensics, and so much more.
From solving differential equations and conducting chemistry experiments to debating historical events and bringing solutions to life in our IDEA Lab, students stretch themselves by exploring an array of subjects.
At Overlake, learning isn’t confined to classroom walls. Our programs take students outdoors, engage them in real-world experiences, and reflect on what they've learned, as they connect with the community around them. This is education that pushes boundaries and provides the support students need to discover just how much they're capable of achieving.

Overlake develops multi-dimensional leaders.
An Overlake education involves students learning how to think analytically, critically, creatively, and across disciplines. Its rigor comes from pushing students to transfer knowledge rather than simply absorb it, challenging them to synthesize multiple perspectives, evaluate sources, identify assumptions, and construct solid arguments. Clear writing and speaking require the same precision and discipline as engineering, and studying fields like philosophy, ethics, literature, and history builds the ability to navigate ambiguity, interpret complexity, and make sound decisions with incomplete information.
As our students graduate and enter their careers, we know even the strongest minds run into problems that are not technical: misaligned teams, messy social dynamics, ethical dilemmas, unclear communication, unintended consequences, failures of judgment, and failures of context. An Ovelake foundation strengthens the habits of mind that keep solutions, and the people who create them, effective, grounded, and ready for whatever challenge comes next.
Merging passion, purpose, and potential.
Our College Counseling program starts in 9th grade and puts students at the center. Through personal guidance, learners develop their strengths, pursue their interests, and evaluate colleges that are the right fit for their interests and talents. Built on an outstanding academic foundation, graduates develop the skills to succeed at every school and the tools to lead a life of purpose post-college.

At Overlake, learning spreads onto our campus’s greenery. Students hike through Pacific Northwest forests, participate in global service projects, and connect with our wider Redmond community. Throughout these adventures, they gain a richer understanding of the world around them and their place in it. Our Overlake community expands locally, regionally, and globally, yet remains firmly rooted in what matters most: a sense of wonder, exploration, and becoming.
A 75-acre campus where the classroom meets the outdoors.
Step foot onto our campus and you’ll immediately see that this place sings. Our evergreens create natural chill spots, inviting spontaneous activity and thoughtful reflection. Education and experiences here extend to the great outdoors, as Overlake is a place for students to explore, connect, and become.
Learning Isn’t Limited to the Classroom
Overlake students experience the Pacific Northwest as an extension of the classroom—engaging in field science on local shorelines, studying art and history in Seattle’s museums, and building resilience on trails and mountains. Through outdoor education, service, and cultural exploration, students develop a deep connection to the region’s natural beauty and diverse communities.
Connected Across Continents
With students from 12 states and 9 countries, and an alumni network in over 1,000 cities, Overlake fosters global perspective. International Project Week trips expose students to new cultures and real-world learning beyond the classroom.
Pathways That Stretch Far and Wide
Overlake graduates go on to attend colleges and universities across the country and around the world—reflecting the breadth of their interests, talents, and aspirations. From small liberal arts colleges to large research institutions, the map tells a story of students who are prepared, purposeful, and ready to thrive wherever they go next.
Building community outdoors where adventure awaits.
Every fall, Overlake kicks off the school year by sending all 575 students off campus for grade-level retreats. These two-day exploits prioritize being humans first, students second. Away from the classrooms, students build relationships, grow personally, and take healthy risks in supportive environments; from first-time campers just testing their wings to seniors soaring on ziplines.
Welcome to learning without boundaries.
At Overlake, schooling transcends the classroom and hallways. Our Experiential Education program shapes how we learn and grow. Students trek through the Cascade Mountains, roll up their sleeves on sustainable farms, and build strong community connections during Project Week. These are more than field trips; they're adventures that leave a lasting impact. It’s how students attain independence and empathy, becoming real-world problem solvers.
Alongside these outdoor adventures, our Signature Programs help students learn and lead in fresh ways. We blend wellness, design thinking, inclusion, and tech exploration into daily school life. These programs fit organically into the overall Overlake experience, preparing students for their next steps—whatever they may be.
