Find your place as a changemaker at Overlake.
We're thrilled you're considering joining our Overlake community for the upcoming school year. Our admissions process allows us to get to know your student while providing you with ample opportunity to get to know us.
Everything you need for your application lives in one easy-to-navigate place: Aryval. Here you can submit materials, track your progress, and sign up for Open Houses—all in one place.
How to Apply Using our Aryval Platform
Start your adventure at Overlake by creating an Aryval account. Your initial application includes a fee of $50 for all applicants.
If fees could be a barrier to applying, please reach out to admissions@overlake.org
Grades 5-6: Applicants join a group activity with other applicants, led by one of our faculty or staff members. While your child is engaged in the activity, parents and guardians will meet with a member of our admissions team. Everyone gets to tour campus during this visit.
Grade 9: Applicants interview in pairs with a staff or faculty member. While students are in their interviews, parents and guardians can take a small campus tour.
All other grades: For non-traditional entry grades, interviews aren't required.
Tell us your story through our application materials. Families share a brief Parent/Guardian Statement, while students express themselves in a personal essay and Activities & Interest Form. These items help us get a holistic view of an applicant.
We want to get to know your child through their teachers' eyes.
5th Grade Applicants: We require an evaluation from a 4th grade primary teacher and a 3rd grade primary teacher. If you have two primary teachers for the current year, an evaluation from both will suffice.
6th Grade Applicants: An evaluation from a 4th grade primary teacher and a 5th grade primary teacher. If you have two primary teachers for the current year, an evaluation from both will suffice.
9th Grade Applicants: One evaluation from a current English AND current Math teacher.
Non-traditional entry grades: One evaluation from a current English AND current Math teacher.

No, we do not issue I-20 forms and therefore cannot sponsor or support applications for F-1 student visas. International students must be eligible to reside in the United States through a parent or legal guardian's visa status, such as an H-2 or L-2 visa.
Yes, but we have a flexible policy. Applicants may submit standardized test results from the previous school year. Accepted scores include state assessments (such as the SBA, MAP, or Iowa Assessments) as well as national exams (such as the ISEE or SSAT).
Standardized test scores help us gauge whether an applicant is academically prepared for our learning environment, but it is only one small part of our holistic admissions review. We place equal emphasis on each candidate's overall mission fit, character, and potential to thrive in our school community.
Open House events are not required, but we highly recommend attending so you can experience our community firsthand and see what makes Overlake special. Please note that we do not offer campus tours to prospective families, so the best chance to see Overlake is by attending an Open House.
To send us your student's school records, simply use the “records request” feature built right into your application. It's straightforward; just follow the prompt in Aryval, and the records will come directly to our office.
