Augustavo Named Girls' Basketball Head Coach

John Augustavo

This week The Overlake School announced the hiring of John Augustavo as the Owls’ Head Girls’ Basketball Coach for the 2018-19 season.

Overlake’s Athletic Director, John Wiley, said, "John has a proven ability to build a great program and did so over a terrific 13-year run at Inglemoor. Many of his former players raved about what he did for them as basketball players, but more importantly, as human beings. We’re excited about John joining our community."

Augustavo coached Inglemoor from 2002-2015, taking the Vikings to the Kingco championship game five times and earning three conference titles. He led four of those teams to the 4A State Tournament, including his last team to the 4A State Championship game. That year, 2014-15, he earned Kingco Coach of the Year, Seattle Star Times Coach of the Year, and the WSGBA State Coach of the Year awards.

"I am really looking forward to the opportunity Overlake has given me,” said Augustavo. “The environment at Overlake is that of a family and the people, kids, and administrators have been very kind and welcoming. My challenge will be to maintain their high quality of play and continue to grow the program. It is something I am very excited to do."
