Dear Overlake Community,

It is wonderful to be back at school and to welcome in a New Year. Right now, there are so many wonderful events happening both on and off our campus –play rehearsals, ski bus, field trips, basketball games, Benefit Concert – and these are just the ones in January.

Next month is also our Gala on Saturday, February 10, at the spectacular venue MOHAI. This year the event will be particularly special as we will be celebrating 50 years of Overlake’s history. To honor this occasion, we have christened the event Cheers to Fifty Years!

This Gala is also a wonderful opportunity for our incredible community to come together, including parents, guardians, alums, friends of the school, etc. This year, in recognition of the 50th, faculty and staff have stepped up and offered a wonderful array of community-building events (only available for sign ups at the event!) including rafting on the Snoqualmie followed by a riverside BBQ, a tour of SAM with a delicious lunch, a tasty paella dinner, GOLA parties and the annual BBQ at the Head of School’s house to kick off the summer.

We will also mark this significant mile post in Overlake history by asking guests to participate in a one-time paddle raise that evening to help establish the William (aka Army) C. and Annalee F. Armstrong Endowment Fund for Financial Aid. Bill and Anna have served Overlake since its founding, and are passionate advocates for financial aid assistance as a powerful avenue to leave a lasting legacy at Overlake. I hope you will all join me in recognizing them with your support.

Finally, I want to thank co-chairs Katie Boland and Cecilia Whatley. You can imagine that planning and organizing this amazing event is no small feat. Countless hours have been spent thinking about creating an atmosphere that is fun and festive. It is sure to be a memorable evening – this is one party you won’t want to miss.

I hope to see you all at Cheers to Fifty Years!

Warmly,

Matt
