Unlikely Superheroes Contest Winners!
The Challenge: create an unlikely superhero, their special power, and how they used it to solve a crisis.
First Place
Superhero: Captain Ketchup Stain
Special power: Making annoying ketchup stains disappear!
Crisis they fix: People are constantly (accidentally, obviously) squirting ketchup on their shirts/pants. Captain Ketchup Stain removes these stains with a flick of the wrist! (He’s very useful).
--Aimee, 5th
Second Place
Superhero: Sir Make-Things-Interesting
Special power: Makes your most boring presentation/report interesting.
Crisis they fix: I stood in front of my class, my statistic-filled, boring report clutched in my hand. I began to drone on, my teacher’s eyes glazing over. “Another F,” I thought. And then, poof! Her eyes lit up. Maybe not…
--Sloka, 8th
Third Place Tie
Superhero: Unnatural-Luck Larry
Special power: Somehow defeats the villain accidentally by luck.
Crisis they fix: Whenever a bad guy comes, you can barely count on Larry to do the job! --Vedhas, 6th, Green
Superhero: Handwriting Detective
Special power: Translating messy handwriting.
Crisis they fix: Teachers cannot read messy, illegible handwriting, so they hire Handwriting Detective! --Sana V., 6th, Gold
