Summer Pleasure Reading 2020

“It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it.” ― Oscar Wilde

Summer is almost here, overflowing with time to read many wonderful books. If you need some suggestions, the Library has compiled lists for Middle School (aimed at grades 5-7), Crossover MS/US (aimed at grades 7-10), and Upper School (aimed at grades 9-12). The Middle School and Crossover lists are divided by genre, featuring titles in Realistic Fiction, Historical Fiction, Adventure, Mystery/Horror, Fantasy/SF, and Nonfiction. The Upper School list is divided into Fiction, Nonfiction, and Graphic Novels.

The Library has purchased most of these titles as Overdrive eBooks; they may be streamed in your browser, or downloaded to a device using the Sora App for schools (the Libby App for public libraries and the Overdrive App will also work). More information here.

“Isn't it odd how much fatter a book gets when you've read it several times?" Mo had said..."As if something were left between the pages every time you read it. Feelings, thoughts, sounds, smells...and then, when you look at the book again many years later, you find yourself there, too, a slightly younger self, slightly different, as if the book had preserved you like a pressed flower...both strange and familiar.” ― Cornelia Funke, Inkspell
