Library book pick up

library books

Reading for pleasure is something that The Overlake School values and wants to encourage, particularly in this new reality we are living in. What better way to travel to new worlds, or walk in another person's shoes than to read about it? The Overlake Online Library has hundreds of eBooks for community use, but we also have thousands and thousands of print books just sitting unused on the shelves while campus is closed. Public libraries are closed, and we recognize the value and desire for some off-screen time.

The Overlake Library will offer an opportunity for community members to request print books from the Overlake Library for checkout over the summer. This is also an opportunity to return any library materials you have at home and are finished with.

To request books, first, check to see if the library has them using the library catalog. Here’s a quick tutorial on using the library catalog. Then, fill out this form to request books. BOOKS MUST BE REQUESTED BY 7:00 am on Tuesday, June 2nd so that we have enough time to find and safely package them.

While we are not limiting the number of books that can be checked out, we are limiting “high demand” titles (titles with multiple requests) to three per person. If more than one person requests a title, the first person to request it will receive it.

On Wednesday and Thursday, June 3rd and 4th requested books will be wrapped by library staff wearing PPE, labeled and set out in the 5/6th pickup circle. There will also be a box to return books. Community members will choose a pickup time, and simply drive up and retrieve their package. Please do not exit your vehicle except to pick up the package, and do not enter any other area of campus.
