6th-8th Grade Battle of the Books 2020

Collage of photos from Battle of the Books

This year's 6th-8th Grade Battle of the Books took place at Open Window School, and was a triumph for Overlake after our loss last year; Overlake's Team 3 emerged victorious! Justin, 6th, Yeriel, 6th, Avani, 7th, Alexandra, 6th, and Mahi, 7th.

Fifteen 6th-8th graders signed up a few months ago to participate in the Battle, which is a combination reading contest and game show. Students read at least three of the thirteen books on the list they helped put together (both Open Window and Overlake students had input), then competed to answer questions such as: "Which book includes a recipe for gruel, with the warning that it’s awful?" Answer: Queen of the Sea by Dylan Meconis.
