Math & Sciences Center Update

construction

As we enter the winter months, we thought we'd check with Business Manager Warren Gilles on the status of our new Math & Sciences Center.

Demolition began last summer, and after several months of site development and pouring a foundation, the steel skeleton of the building is starting to appear.  This phase of construction is very visible and progressing quickly. Because of the waning daylight, crews also brought in huge portable lights which will allow workers to get in a full day's construction even before the sunrise.

As with any major construction project, there are periods of very visual work and moments that appear to be at a standstill. Gilles says to not let looks deceive you. "With all the steel going up, it'll be a matter of a week or two where the shell of the building will be in place," explains Gilles. "It may look to the outside world that nothing is happening once the shell of the building is up, but I guarantee you that the work will continue inside the building site."
