Academic Advising

In the role of Grade Level Deans, Overlake’s Upper School Head and Counselors provide Upper School students with additional guidance regarding academic planning and course selection based on each student’s interests, abilities and college aspirations.  While consultation may occur throughout the school year, the Deans primarily meet individually with all students during the course registration period in the spring. They meet with students to review their course placements for the following year, their progress in fulfilling course requirements for graduation, with particular attention paid to their total number of credits and core academic courses, and whether they are meeting other requirements, such as co-curricular and service learning expectations.
