The Battle of the Books is a combination reading contest and game show, in which teams of students compete to answer questions from a set list of books. Questions always start with "In which book" or "Which book," and the answer is always the title and author. For instance: "In which book does a boy call his father from a bathroom stall to find out why he needs algebra?" The answer is: My Most Excellent Year by Steve Kluger.

This was our first year doing the Battle of the Books online, and many kudos to all the participants for showing up and giving it their all. Many thanks to my colleagues Kelly Vikstrom-Hoyt and Andrea McCandlish on campus, who not only did timekeeping and scorekeeping, but set up the library classroom for those students on campus so they could complete using the classroom camera and mike. Without their help, this event would not have been possible!
