All current parents, guardians, faculty and staff are members of the Parent Faculty Staff Alliance (PFSA).
The Mission of the PFSA is to:
- Communicate: Promote better communication between parents/guardians of students, faculty, staff, and the Board of the school
- Fundraise: Provide supplemental funds for the school through fundraising events
- Volunteer: Support the school and its programs to help establish and maintain an effective learning environment
The nominations process for the 2017-2018 PFSA Board is beginning. The Nominating Committee is looking to fill two positions: First Vice President and one Second Vice President. The Allocations Committee is comprised of parents, faculty and the Head of School (currently a six member committee chaired by a parent volunteer). The purpose of the committee is to hear, evaluate, and recommend approval or disapproval of requests for funding when funding is sought for goods or services outside of the general budget of a department or group. The Faculty and Staff Appreciation (FSA) Committee is dedicated to showing our teachers and staff how much they are appreciated throughout the year and is a fun team builder for parents as well. There is one event per month and each grade is assigned only one event. The time commitment varies and can be as little as one hour or up to several hours depending on volunteer availability. This committee is led by two Co-Chairs who set the event dates and train grade level FSA volunteers. More info.
Grade Level Reps
Each grade level would ideally have 2-3 Grade Level Representatives (GLRs). The primary mission of the GLRs is to build a strong sense of community among the families in each grade by serving as ambassadors and knowledgeable resources about the PFSA and the school. They inform and guide families about PFSA activities, invite and organize volunteers, support and participate in community-building efforts and serve as a conduit of information between administration, and the PFSA and parents. Overlake Athletic Club (OAC)

The OAC supports all Athletics programs at The Overlake School. OAC benefits Overlake's 400+ student-athletes through the promotion of athletic events, enhancing school spirit, community service, and fundraising. OAC's income comes from the sales of Overlake promotional items (sweatshirts, shirts, etc.) and donations from parents. OAC members volunteer to help at a variety of events which support every one of our 16 athletic programs. This committee is led by two Co-Chairs and meets monthly. More info.
Overlake Friends of the Arts (OFTA)

OFTA provides volunteer and financial support for all Arts programs at The Overlake School. OFTA volunteers raise funds for the Arts Department, help with costuming, provide assistance to the performing, visual and musical arts and supply refreshments at all performances. OFTA also supports the arts teachers by providing supplemental funding for outside guest lecturers for the benefit of the students. Volunteers are also responsible for the production and population of Driveway signs for all Arts events, including concerts, plays and musicals. More info.
The Overlake Fund
The Overlake Fund is the school’s most important source of revenue other than student tuition. It is a vital part of the annual operating budget, contributing to every part of the school’s operation, including the academics, arts, athletics, technology, faculty professional development, and student financial aid. The Overlake Fund touches every student, every teacher, every family, every day. Overlake Fund Ambassadors are trained by the Office of Development.
Each grade level will have at least two, preferably three, Overlake Fund Ambassadors who promote and emphasize participation to the parents in their grade. They make sure that parents understand that gifts – large or small – help every child and can help secure foundation support. More info.
The Parent Ambassadors are representatives of Overlake's parent community who assist the Admission Office in welcoming potential applicant families to the Overlake Community. They give tours of the campus, help at outreach events, and assist newly enrolled families as they transition to a new school. These friendly and dedicated volunteers are selected and trained by the admissions office. Openings vary based on grade-level demand and attrition. Volunteer activities also include contacting admitted families during the March decision period, assisting at The Admitted Family Reception and The New Family Luncheon, organizing and hosting grade-level summer get-togethers for new families, and making check-in calls in the fall. ParentNet is a parent-directed program designed to facilitate communication, promote networking, and foster mutual support among parents of the same grade level. Twice a year (fall and spring), each grade’s parents will have the opportunity to meet at the school to discuss mutually agreed upon topics. These two-hour discussions are scheduled during the day or in the evening, and may touch on dating, alcohol and drug use, money, curfews, discipline, driving, eating problems, parties, safety, sexual activity, self-esteem, study habits, etc. Parents who are comfortable leading or facilitating small groups of parents and would like to be involved in the ParentNet program, may contact Susan Essex.
