Due to COVID-19, there were changes to this year’s Summer Program. In these uncertain times, we're not sure what next year will look like, but we can say Summer Program 2020 was a resounding success in the face of adversity, running 14 Virtual Camps + Kits for over 80 students. If you're interested in Summer Program 2021, feel free to check out the posted camp descriptions from last year. We will update with more information in January of 2021.
Register for our camps in our CampDoc registration system. Registration opens on January 31.
Dates: July 20-31
Instructors: Limei Xu
Age: Ages 11 to 15 (students entering grades 6 to 10 in the 2020-21 school year).
Cost: $1200 per student, which includes the price of the afternoon camps and lunch.
In order for this exchange program to run, a minimum of 4 students must register. Overlake will make a final decision and families will be notified if the course will run by May 3.
Please note that—due to the unique nature of this program—there are no coupons available for the Cultural Exchange.
The Overlake Cultural Exchange Program helps international students to learn the intricacies of American culture. Students spend the morning (9:00 to 12:00) practicing vocabulary and carrying basic conversation in various settings of a typical day in the United States. The second half of the day (1:00 to 4:00) will be dedicated to integration and having students participate in afternoon camps with all the other students.
The English language learning curriculum is based on key national standards and will help students practice reading, writing, and speaking in English. Students will then be challenged to take what they’ve learned and implement the skills in the real world. They will be prepared to communicate and interview faculty and staff on campus, navigate markets and ask for help, read and follow recipes, use literary devices to write a poem, and many other hands-on activities.
