Calling all who love theater, inside and out! Students will have the opportunity to see five plays at the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. Performances will include two plays by Shakespeare, Julius Caesar, and Henry IV, part 1Mojada (by Luis Alfado); Hannah and the Dread Gazebo (a world premiere by Jiehae Park); and Shakespeare in Love,  (based on the screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard.) We will also attend a workshop with actors of the company, a series of prologues for each play designed to inform and enhance the experience, a design workshop around sets, costuming, lighting, and sound, and a multi-media backstage tour. After each play students will engage in vigorous discussion about the production’s themes, staging, acting, etc. This project will enhance your understanding about all aspects of theatre, including themes, characters, language of the plays, stagecraft and design, costuming, makeup, and the art and craft of acting.
