Saying Good bye…for now

September 17th, 2011 by Lori Maughan

It seems to me that a really dynamic blog needs to be posted frequently with  current and interesing information.  While there is certainly lots of interesting information to share with you, I’ve not succeeded this  past year in writing with the frequency intended.  Admissions is implementing some very exciting changes for the 2011-12 application season and my attention will be focused on this area in the near future.  You can find this information on the admission web pages.

For now, I’m condensing tasks.  As a result, the admission blog is taking an indefinite haitus.  Once we resume posting there will be a link on the admission webpages accessing my  blog.   I can always be reached by email  lmaughan@overlake.org or phone 425-868-6191 eXt. 616

A New Definition of “Active”

May 17th, 2011 by Brenda Draper

Advance Placement (AP) Exams, Senior Projects, college acceptances, Prom, graduation,
Distinguished Lecturer, Middle School Field Day, New Family Luncheon, 8th Grade Field Studies, Volunteer Appreciation Tea, Faculty/Staff Appreciation Lunch, Finals, 8th Grade Promotion, Varsity Sports Night, and Incoming 5th Grade Social, just to name a few of the happenings and events that are occurring at Overlake before we wrap up the year with our Closing Day Ceremony on June 10th!

Before we say farewell to this school year, we’ll gather to celebrate our newest Overlake families by hosting our New Family Luncheon on Saturday, May 21. This is a joyous occasion where new families socialize during a delicious buffet luncheon. A special activity is planned for the students while parents
are introduced to the basics of transitioning into the Overlake community. For those who wish to make it a full afternoon, tickets are provided to the 7th/8th grade play “The Odessey.”

Soon more to come on summer activities…Keep thinking sunshine! Lori

Amazing Admission Season!

April 2nd, 2011 by Brenda Draper

With a record number of applications for the 2011/12 academic year and very few currents students leaving Overlake, there were a limited number of openings for new students. Our decision process
was even more challenging due to the high number of outstanding candidates! Stay tuned for information on upcoming events as we welcome our new families!!!

Initial Application due December 9th!

December 1st, 2010 by Brenda Draper

This time of year, the Admission Department staff is very busy processing applications and scheduling visits and interviews. If you or anyone you know is planning to apply for the 2011 – 2012 school year, this is a reminder that the initial portion of the application is due by Thursday, December 9th. We appreciate your help in our commitment to going green and ask that the initial application form be completed online. An online application qualifies applicants for a reduced application fee and offers applicants the ability to check the status of their application online. It is also important for you to know that we have a limited amount of classroom visit days to offer applicants therefore, it is imperative to schedule early to take advantage of this informative classroom experience.
The following link will take you to the Online Application for Admission: http://www.overlake.org/admissions/apply.html.
Please contact Lori Maughan, ext. 616, Brenda Draper, ext. 613, Deanna Manelski, ext. 617 or Leslie Chambers, ext. 843 if you have questions about the admission process.

When should my child take the ISEE?

May 17th, 2010 by Lori Maughan

Test results have shown that there is little to no difference in scores whether  an applicant takes the ISEE in October or January.  We recommend that your child review the on-line practice test “What to Expect on the ISEE” to familarize him/herself with the format and pacing of the exam.

http://isee.erblearn.org/default.aspx?level=unknown

Often factors such as family calendar, sports, travel,  and test site availability dictate when an applicant schedules the ISEE.  As long as the test is taken by  January 9th,  for the Standard Application Process, and your child’s file is complete you will have met the Overlake application deadline.
