The Mathematics Department teaches students a thorough foundation of math skills, preparing them for college math and providing an understanding and appreciation of math and its applications. The vigorous, traditional mathematics curriculum develops students’ analytical and problem-solving skills and logical, reasoning skills in relation to real world problems.

Overlake's math curriculum follows a traditional sequence rather than the integrated program now used in many local public schools. Students complete full-year courses in Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre Calculus, Calculus or AP Calculus and choose from electives such as Computer Science, Statistics and Advanced Math Topics. Many courses incorporate technology to enhance learning and expose students to real world scenarios.

A challenging and supportive environment serves individual students' varying interests and abilities, so they may build confidence and produce their best efforts.

“I love the small classes. They really allow teachers to focus on individual students.”
