Overlake's arts department offers all students vibrant and varied classes in both the visual and performing arts. We hope students will not simply appreciate the arts, but also become lifelong participants. They may choose to create videos, paint, draw, sculpt, sing, dance, act or play an instrument. We offer art, drama and music beginning in fifth grade, and as both required and elective courses in the upper grades.
Students may see their art works displayed around campus: in a new outdoor gallery, in the Campus Center or at the Fulton Performing Arts Center.
Choirs, bands and orchestra perform several concerts throughout the school year, and compete in choral and instrumental festivals and contests.
Our drama department presents three to four productions each year, and Overlake actors and productions have received local and regional awards. All students may audition for the biennial All-School Musical, or help produce it. On alternate years, the Upper School Advanced Musical Theater class performs. Fifth and sixth-graders, and seventh and eighth-graders may participate in their own productions.
