STUDENT LIFE
Overlake students are experts at balancing their busy academic schedules with other interests such as clubs, activities and athletics.
- Both Middle and Upper School have active student governments (ASB) that sponsor dances, film festivals, carnival, spirit weeks and a host of other activities.
- All students participate annually in Project Week, selecting from experiential education courses that range from arts to outdoor education and from college tours to foreign travel.
- Senior Projects and Eighth Grade Field Studies are capstone projects for Upper and Middle School.
- All students have the opportunity to take part in theatre productions, both as performers and in technical roles.
- Overlake has an extensive Outdoor Education program with a range of one-day, weekend and longer trips for both Middle and Upper School students.
- In addition to academics, students enjoy opportunities that promote social and physical health such as Ski Bus, where parent volunteer sponsor Ski and Snowboarding trips for grades 7-12.
- Clubs include Chess, Junior Statesmen of America, Diversity, Climbing, Squash, Band, Math Team and Literary Magazines.
- Each spring, students celebrate Foreign Language Week enjoying the food, arts and culture of the countries that speak the languages taught at Overlake.
- All students are involved in two community service days each year and are encouraged to engage in additional service learning, both on campus and off.
- Overlake has a history of taking on special projects and making them succeed. In the 2001-2002 school year, Overlake students, faculty and parents raised the funds needed to build a school in rural Cambodia.
