  • Overlake enrolls 500 students who come primarily from the Eastside suburbs of Seattle and Bellevue, Washington.
  • The average class size is 13.
  • The student-teacher ratio is 9:1.

  • Overlake has 56 teachers both full and part-time. All have bachelors' degrees, two-thirds have masters' degrees and four have doctorates.
  • Overlake offers honors sections in six disciplines and 16 Advanced Placement courses.
  • Languages offered are French, Japanese, Latin and Spanish.
  • Overlake's interscholastic Athletics Program is outstanding and includes soccer, cross-country, track, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, tennis, golf and baseball. Overlake's policy of inclusion offers every student a chance to play sports at both the middle school and upper school levels.
  • Overlake offers exceptional arts and music classes including jazz band, concert band, choir, drama, stagecraft, woodshop, ceramics, drawing, painting and sculpture.
  • Overlake has a strong Technology Program including a full-time Technology Integration Specialist who helps teachers and students use technology effectively.
  • Each grade has an annual retreat at the beginning of the school year.
  • Eighth Grade Field Studies is a capstone experience for Middle School students that features a combination of academics, outdoor education and transition to Upper School.
  • Service Learning is an integral part of Overlake's program. Each year all Upper School students are required to complete 15 hours of service. Middle and Upper School students have two full community service days during each school year.
  • All students participate annually in Project Week, a challenging experiential learning experience with offerings that range from archaeology to rafting to weaving.
  • Overlake has four Foreign Exchange Programs: France, Italy, Japan and Spain.
  • Both Middle and Upper School have active Outdoor Programs that include backpacking, rock climbing, backcountry skiing, camping, mountaineering and kayaking.
  • Overlake has an Advisory Program that pairs a small group of students with a teacher for one or more years. The advisory groups meet each morning in homeroom.
  • Overlake has a four-year College Counseling Program that begins in the freshman year.
  • Overlake supports an on-campus Personal Counseling Program with two full-time counselors.
  • Overlake has many opportunities for parents to make friends and become involved at school including an active parents' association, athletics and arts support groups and parenting education programs and speakers.
